Bunnies
Carmen Miranda was a well-known Hollywood actress from the 1930’s through the 1950’s. She was best known for her roles in the “A Night in …Rio, Jamaica, Cuba, etc…” series of movies. For the most part she played supporting roles where she would perform as a singer and dancer, she was costumed in extravagant outfits based on Spanish or “south of the border” style dancers and usually sported a hat with a bowl of fruit on her head.
My ceramic sculpture "Cha Cha Bunny" series is a nod to Carmen’s unique style.
Why I chose to go down the "rabbit hole" with bunnies was mostly accidental. It began in a mold making class where I made a bunny head in a pop surrealist style and business suit, they just seemed to go together and the business bunnies were created. As usual with rabbits the other bunnies just seemed to keep multiplying...
